TM Davenport​

Welcome. I’m Mark (TM) Davenport. A guitarist, singer, songwriter and composer working out of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, UK. I want these songs to tell you stories you haven’t heard, but which always seem familiar. Many, many influences from 300 years ago to last week. Greatly inspired by the work of Sting, Peter Gabriel, Crowded House and Kate Bush. Started out on the piano when I was 4 years old and loved it. Got handed a truly awful nylon string guitar when some family friends came back from a holiday in Spain – yeah yeah gift horses an’ all that (there’s a song right there) and a whole new world opened up.

Took lessons with Mr Charlie Barker in Lincoln, our woodwork teacher and a wicked rag player, so that’s where the finger-style all begins. First thing Charlie said was, ‘You need a proper guitar’. If you’re out there, Charlie, thank you! I still can’t help lapsing into 1930s mode when I pick up an acoustic.
